Who would like to help organize a straight pride parade with me?
Q. I think gay pride parades are ridiculous. How does dressing up in spandex and feathered boas supposed to make others identify with you? Most gay people I know don't dress or act like that let alone straigh tpeople. I say we organize a straight pride parade. We dress skimpy and ridiculous and act like lunatics. Maybe we can show gay people how inaffective their parades really are.

Does Disneyland and CA Adventure have the fireworks and the electrical parade during the week?
Q. I want to go to Disneyland during the week to try and avoid some of the line wait. But Im afraid by doing so, I wont be able to see the electrical parade or the fireworks! Are these shows on during the week? Or weekends only?

A. During the off season (now until summer) fireworks are only held on the weekends and holidays. The Electrical Parade at CA Adventure is not scheduled to run at this time on any day. You can check the calendar for any ride closures or entertainment schedules about two months out by clicking the link.

What hotel is close to the Macy's Thanksgiving day parade route?
Q. My husband and I are going to the Macy's parade this year. We are driving up the night before from VA and hope to get there early so that way we can get a good spot to see all the festivities. Are there any cheap hotels in the area that are with in walking distance to the parade route? We are not really too picky as to where we are on the parade route unless anyone has any tips on where a really good place would be to watch from. Thank you!

A. I live in Manhattan and I can tell you that there are a lot of hotels within walking distance of the parade route - but, "cheap" is another story! I also happen to live 2 blocks over from where the parade starts and I can tell you that the reviewing stands along Central Park west fill up kind of early as does anything close to the store (34th St). I think the route below 59th St to the mid 40's along Broadway tend to fill up a little later (though you will have to stand). If you are going to be here the night before, you can watch them blow up the balloons on west 77th st between Columbus Ave and Central Park West - they start around 6:00pm-ish, but be prepared for long lines (you can walk past them pretty much all night long). How early should we be on the street to get up front seats to the Macy's parade?
Q. Hello, my family and I are traveling from PA to go see the Macy's parade, and was wondering what time we should go out in the morning to get up front seats along the parade route. We are staying at the Edison hotel, so we are just a very short walk from 7th avenue. What I have been finding is to get upfront seats, you should start arriving around 5am. Is this true? Also if anyone has any other tips they would be greatly appreciated. Also does anyone know if the Christmas tree at Rockefeller center will be lite after the parade? Thanks!

A. The Rockefeller Tree has its own lighting ceremony and it's not until December 2. For the parade people start lining up extremely early. In the Herald Square area, we've heard people line up the night before. They line up later further north.

Is a styrofoam sign for a parade float a good idea?
Q. I need to make a sign or banner for a Halloween Parade. Whatever I use will be attached to a 2x4 frame. I have some large styrofoam sheets that I could carve out and paint to look like weathered wood, and I know it would look cool, but I'm just worried about the wind factor. Do you think styrofoam could be nailed to the wood? Will it snap in half if the wind catches it? Is there a way to make it stronger?

A. In essence you'll be creating a sail. "An Amatuer built the "Kon Tiki"...Professionals built the "Titanic"...If ya get my "drift" One consideration might be the thickness of the sheet; the framework weight; and who/what; will bear the banner. Certainly it can look cool (using your words); but nails aren't strictly the way to attach it. Better; or as good; would be Liquid Nails; or some such. Pray for a calm day/night; for the parade too. Backing up. Will this be attached to a float? Will it be hand carried? (2x4's) can be heavy) Obviously a parade suggests forward motion. Certainly if on a float one might suspect you could align the banner parallel with the crowd; NOT face on; perpendicular to the bystanders on the curb.… [cont.]

Who was the elderly cheerleading team that performed during the Macy's Thanksgiving parade this year?
Q. While watching the Macy's parade this Thanksgiving, I caught an incredible performance by an elderly cheerleading team whose members were all over 60 or so.
