How, or where do i find a minstrel costume?
Q. for school we were given a role in a medeival village, and i got a minstrel. i have to come up with a story about my life and find or make a costume. i have no idea what to do!!! please help me

A. Take a look at some of the images. A medieval minstrel really didn't dress any differently than anyone else in the village, perhaps a bit more theatrically. Minstrels were wandering musicians and probably as poor as everyone else. I'd say you could probably go with any renaissance peasant outfit.

Why do some people think that Lindir the minstrel from The Lord of the Rings has blond/white hair?
Q. Most people think that Lindir the minstrel has ether blond or white hair? Did I miss something in the books that say what what he looks like?, or is it just a opinion most people have. In my opinion, I think that Lindir has dark hair. I guess it is up to the fans of Lindir to decide on what he looks like. What is your opinion? I think that Lindir has dark brown hair, so that is pretty close to black.

Can strip club shows be compared to minstrel shows?

In his opinion, what women performers do at strip clubs is comparable to what African-American and white performers in blackface used to do in minstrel shows in the early part of the 20th century. Obviously, he was talking about banning strip clubs, not bringing back minstrel shows.

Q. I plan on playing the irish patriotic song The Minstrel Boy on the harp at a celtic festival at my college at the end of february, unfortunately i have been able to find sheet music for the harp for this song, can anyone help, or does anyone know if i can use piano sheet music to the same effect

A. You can use music for any instrument with your harp. One of my most useful books is the O'Neill's "Music of Ireland", which is about 1,850 fiddle tunes. All you have to do is follow the melody line, and fill in the chords you'll use for bass accompaniment. So if you have any sheet music, you should be able to follow it. But "The Minstrel Boy" is a simple tune...why don't you try picking it out by ear? Find the melody line first, and then the bass chords to go with it. You have about six weeks...plenty of time, and some good practice for you as you assemble your own arrangement.

In the game "Mount and Blade" for the PC where is Caldaran Minstrel?
Q. I've searched everywhere. In a mission given by Lord Olaf I'm told to go to a town to find this fugitive and kill him. But he is NOWHERE. I ask the villagers and they just say "People pass by all the time, if he's here just look around". No further info is given and I've look all around the town to no avail. Also too I can't seem to find anything online in referance to this particular mission either. Any ideas?

Do you consider commercial rap to be a modern-day minstrel show?

Please not that I used the term "commercial rap" (popular rap that promotes materialism and sexism) as I know that there are other rap genres that are more meaningful which unfortunately do receive enough airplay as their commercial counterparts.
