Why do some people think that Lindir the minstrel from The Lord of the Rings has blond/white hair?
Q. Most people think that Lindir the minstrel has ether blond or white hair? Did I miss something in the books that say what what he looks like?, or is it just a opinion most people have. In my opinion, I think that Lindir has dark hair. I guess it is up to the fans of Lindir to decide on what he looks like. What is your opinion? I think that Lindir has dark brown hair, so that is pretty close to black.
Asked by Kristen M - Wed Jul 2 17:26:28 2008 - - 5 Answers - 0 Comments
A. I think it's based on differing perceptions of elves and minstrels. When I think elf, hair color is ambiguous, but when I think minstrel, I picture medium to dark brown hair. The book contains no physical description of him, but when you read you're meant to imagine appearances for yourself. Even if he's got dark hair in the game, that doesn't mean his hair can't be blond because Tolkien didn't write how he meant Lindir to look.

In what ways does modern hip-hop culture cause damaging minstrel stereotypes of African Americans?
Q. I have this questions for a theater class. We're supposed to come up with three arguments as to how it is true that hip-hop today causes these damaging stereotypes, and three arguments as to how it is false that hip-hop today causes these damaging stereotypes. I have come up with 2 for how it is true, but I can't seem to come up with how it is false. Any true or false statements would be helpful!! Thank you!

A. You are not going to like this answer. I am not racist and have many African-American friends... But many people give into stereotypes. I live in a southern town that honestly is (in the last Census) 98% black. Most of the black people shout unintelligable things to each other in the parking lots, dress like sluts/gangstas, use 4-letter words more than necessary, and you know that horrid "joke" about if you want to hide something from a black person, put it in a book? Obviously that is ignorant, but in my town, it rings true. Many blacks have a culture that is just... different? My friends are genuinely educated and do not exhibit any of the above behaviours. I think if people don't want to be thought of in a certain way, they shouldn't… [cont.]

A. Take a pregnancy test or go to your doctor. PMS can cause nausea, headaches, vomiting, etc that could make you think that you are pregnant.

In the game "Mount and Blade" for the PC where is Caldaran Minstrel?
Q. I've searched everywhere. In a mission given by Lord Olaf I'm told to go to a town to find this fugitive and kill him. But he is NOWHERE. I ask the villagers and they just say "People pass by all the time, if he's here just look around". No further info is given and I've look all around the town to no avail. Also too I can't seem to find anything online in referance to this particular mission either. Any ideas?

It's probably not glitched because you get randomly generated quest to assassinate criminals from lots of Lords. Just don't do the quest If you know It's glitched, It's not a Important quest... Hope I helped

what is a mummer? Is it like a wandering minstrel?
Q. I am reading this book, set in the 1300's and it is kinda like "A Knight's tale" and in the first chapter, it says " The mummers and minstrels had set up their booths and the air was heavy with the scent of meat pastries and burnt sugar." so, I ask, what is a mummer?
Asked by . - Mon Sep 1 01:59:58 2008 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments
A. Mummers are a sort of street actors who perform allegorical plays, usually broadly comic and in rhymed couplets at Christmas time or Easter. In fact, the tradition continues today, now associated with sword dancers and morris dancers. Later, mumming evolved into a door-to-door means of collecting donations, like caroling or maybe more like trick-or-treating because the agricultural laborers (who commonly did it) might threaten to plough up the house if not paid. Hence one of the many later names for mummers was 'ploughboys'. Another name, 'guisers', derives from the fact that mummers might wear blackface makeup or obscuring headgear so as not to be recognized while basically out begging-- and particularly if they should have to make good… [cont.]

A. I am a long time spinner and own two Lendrums and a Merlin Tree wheel, as well as a Kromski Prelude purchased for my youngest grandchild (almost 4). I bought the Prelude because it was easier for her to treadle than any of my others, including my Hitchiker which is more her size than my others. Most new spinners who buy Kromski wheels are very happy with them. However, that said, since a wheel can be a major purchase I would strongly suggest that if you have the opportunity to go to a vendor who sells several different types wheels from different makers and can try them out, do so. If there is an upcoming sheep and wool festival in your area (even if, with the price of gas, it's a couple of hours away) there will be many wheel vendors… [cont.]
