Is is possible to go from light brown to really blonde hair?
Q. I am nuturally a blonde but in November I colored my hair brown, it is now a very light brown, you can definitely see blondes coming through. Is it possible to get it from the light brown to a really light blonde (like Jessica Simpson) in one appointment? And would I need a color or a highlight?

A. You will have to color-strip your hair and then lighten (assuming your desired hair color is lighter than your natural hair color). If you are satisfied with the intensity of your natural blonde color, lightening is not needed. Whatever happens, it is considered best to wait at least 24 hours after color stripping to color-treat hair. You can color strip at home, by the way, with a product like Colorfix: You should spot-treat your hair if you choose this method (to make sure the stripper doesn't dry your hair). This means you should use a bit of the product on a lock of your hair in the back of your head and see how your hair reacts to the chemical. If it looks dry or otherwise undesirable after using the treatment, then do not… [cont.]

I'm trying to dye my dark blonde hair light brown, what dye should I use?
Q. I have heard horror stories of girls dying their blonde hair brown and ending up with green... I heard to use war/red shades of brown but my sister, who has similar hair, said these dyes make her hair look brassy/golden, which I DONT want. But i don't want green hair either. I use Nice n Easy by Loreal for my hair when i usually dye it lighter blonde. Is this a good grand? what shade should i do?

Can I dye my platinum blonde hair light brown?
Q. My hair is usally dyed with permanent Schwarzkopf Live Hair Colour in Platinum blonde and has been for over a year now. I was wondering if i would be able to have it dyed with a light brown from Clairol's Perfect 10 range as these colours are lush!! My natural hair colour is dark brown if that helps? Thanks!!!

A. well that is the right way to go if you want khaki green hair (yes think about it - yellow/white + brown = khaki) if not then remember you need to use a red filler before using the brown dye.

A. hello. first go to a Sallys, then get two colors. 1 light brown then 1 light golden brown. u mix equal amounts (1 oz+1 oz) of colors. then that would make 2oz. then u mix 2oz. of developer which comes in many volumes. u need a 10vol developer. now u said u have long thick hair. i suggest u to get 2 bottles of both. remember to get gloves and a mixing bottle. also have ur mom or someone help u thouroughly saturate every peice of hair. also combs through w a wide tooth comb. alot of info but to thouroughly do this application u must do step by step. Process for 35-45 min. shampoo then get a deep conditioning treatment for a glossy finish Good luck. Isopurty"the beauty Queen"

Using light blonde hair dye on brown hair without bleaching?
Q. i have likee, its not really dark brown hair. but its not that light either. so i guess i have kinda light ish dark ish brown hair. i was wondering, if i used llight blonde boxed hair dye, without bleaching, would that get my hair a shade or two lighter? or would it have no affect to my hair at all. just answer yes or no, or if you have tried this personally.

A. If you use a very very light blonde dye on dark brown hair...it would most likely come out a light brown...but it won't go blonde without the bleaching...which I don't recommend, its very very damaging to hair. Oh and be careful! Blond dye tends to give brunettes a decidedly red hue. Hair Color can and WILL lighten your hair. It can contain some amounts of a hydrogen based peroxide (not the kind in the bottle! That will turn your hair green!) or bleach. But bleaching/ and lifting are two completely different things. There are hair colors out there that are specifically marketed to leave your hair in better shape than when you started, as they hydrate and gloss your strands. Bleach on the other hand dehydrates and leaves your parched… [cont.]

dying hair from brown to light blonde?
Q. I am thinking about going to a salon and getting my light brown hair dyed a light blonde. Will the results turn out orange or strawberry blonde? Also, can the beautician just dye the hair or do they have to bleach it?
Asked by bling***bling - Sun Jan 27 20:52:02 2008 - - 7 Answers - 0 Comments
A. They can use a lifting die depending on if you dyed your hair brown or not. YES their is such thing as a lifting dye..but it only works on natural colored hair. if you are getting it done professionaly they can tell you by your hair type and codition about how it will turn out. if it isnt how you want it when they are done the should redo it for you. do not do it a little bit at a time do it all or nothing. its wayyy to dammaging to keep lifting just as little bit at a time. your hair may feel brittle and sticky when wet. just use some protein conditioner after.

Dying Blonde hair light brown with semi-permanent hair dye?
Q. I would really like to change my hair colour from my natural (and highlighted) blonde hair to brown and was wondering if I used semi-permanent dye whether it would stain my hair or just wash out as normal after about 28 washes. I just want to try it and really don't want my hair to stay a strange colour after using it! Thanks :)
Asked by AbiM - Thu Oct 15 09:52:43 2009 - - 5 Answers - 0 Comments
A. It may stain your hair a little bit since you are going from blonde to brown. I died my hair to a dark brown hair color (I naturally have very light brown hair) and it washed out in far less than 28 washes. It was back to my normal color, but it was a slightly different tone. It was really only visible to me. It was so subtle though that I'm not even sure if it was actual staining or just my mind making things up. :)

Dying light blonde hair dark blonde/brown.?
Q. I want to dye my already dyed light ash blonde hair with platinumm highlights to a more natural colour, i want to go dark blonde or a light brown. Can i do this at home?? I've heard you had to go red before going brown, and it's complicated to do cause it goes green or something...I just want to know if anyone has done this and what they suggest. Thanks!!
Asked by Harrie P - Wed Aug 20 15:29:21 2008 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments
A. Well... I am a beautician, I will try to help you. Since you already colored your hair, the colored parts of your hair will not "take in" anymore color, color cannot cover color. However, the highlighted sections of your hair can accept color. Your best bet would be to go with a level 6 or 7, and make sure you see the word gold on the box (no ash or neutral). This will avoid turning green. If the ends of your hair are more porous ( or more blonde) only apply it to your ends the last 5-10 mins. Good Luck!

Can I home dye my hair light blonde to chocolate brown?
Q. I have naturally mousy blonde hair which has darkened since i've grown up. I have always kept dying my hair light blonde, but I've become increasingly annoyed at how quickly my dark roots seem to show. I want to dye my hair a quite dark chocolate brown from a cool blonde colour. Could this be done at home with dye? and if so... What shade of dye should I buy? As the dye on my hair at the moment is relatively light Thanks!

A. NO! I'm a fan of home hair dying. i hate spending all that money to get it professionally done... BUT one time when we dyed my light blonde friend's hair brown... it came out totally grey looking! the guy at the drug store said "who screwed that one up?" (when we went to buy more dye to fix it) lol. and her hair was naturally blonde... i'm scared it might be even worse since yours is dyed light blonde... end of the story was we dyed it again and it looked ok, so it's all whether or not you're feelin lucky... lol. I personally wouldn't risk it though...

I colored my naturally dark blonde hair light brown, but now it has an orange shine to it. Any suggestions?
Q. I already tried correcting it with a darker ash brown with a blue/violet base, but it still just as orange as it was before, just darker. Any suggestions on how to fix this?
Asked by Missy Z. - Thu Dec 4 02:19:59 2008 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments
A. ooops. I've done this a few times. I had the hairdresser put blonde streaks through it just to break up the orange. They had to bleach it. If you dye your hair a lot it becomes too porous, that's why the colour you put on top won't work. good luck.

Q. I'm currently a light blonde, and I'm too cheap to go to a salon. What products would you recommend for me to achieve a light brunette color with blonde highlights? Thanks for any help! Also, not a superlight brown, I guess I just mean a normal brown color if that makes sense.

Q. I'm currently a light blonde, and I'm too cheap to go to a salon. What products would you recommend for me to achieve a light brunette color with blonde highlights? Thanks for any help! Also, not a superlight brown, I guess I just mean a normal brown color if that makes sense.

What is the easiest way to dye my hair light brown/dark blonde after I dyed it black a month ago?
Q. I dyed my hair dark brown/black (not a deep black, but a darkest brown-light black.) I would like it to be a very light brown/dirty blonde. Do I have to strip my hair completely or can I lighten it some way so that I can dye it to the lighter color? The color seems to have lightened considerably and it seems like just a rather dark brown. It does have a bit of brassy undertones to it.

A. First use a decolourant. Strip it of it's colour as much as poss otherwise you'll be lightening your hair for ages! Lighten it as much as poss with a decolourant then start bleaching it, but wait 48 hours between each one otherwise you'll destroy your hair. After you dye it your desired colour leave it alone for a few months, your hair will thank you for it. I have dark hair and am constantly changing it's colour. Watch out for split ends and be nice to it.
