How does a group interview at Chapters work?
Q. Next week, I have an interview at Chapters (the book store). I have been notified that the interview is a group interview (which means more than one potential employee is being interviewed at a time). I was just wondering, if anybody has any advice on preparation for an interview like this. Has any one been interviewed there before, or heard anything about their interviews? If so, do you have any tips..pointers...etc? ANY help would be greatly appreciated!

A. Be honest in your answers. Don't interrupt one of the other interviewees. Be positive. Display your knowledge of best sellers, and your love of reading. Be prepared to affirm how you will be good for the job, and how the job will be good for you. Dress conservatively, most employers don't like piercings, unless, of course, you are applying for a job in a sex shop.

Interview questions related to the reliability of eyewitness testimony?
Q. Im writing a research paper on the unreliability of eyewitness testimony. I need to perform an interview consisting of 5-7 substantive questions and I am planning on interviewing either a local criminal courts judge or D.A. Do you have any recommendations of the type of questions to ask during my interview. Thank you in advance.

A. The bedrock of the American judicial process is the honesty of witnesses in trial. Eyewitness testimony can make a deep impression on a jury, which is often exclusively assigned the role of sorting out credibility issues and making judgments about the truth of witness statements.1 Perjury is a crime, because lying under oath can subvert the integrity of a trial and the legitimacy of the judicial system. However, perjury is defined as knowingly making a false statement merely misremembering is not a crime.2 Moreover, the jury makes its determinations of witness credibility and veracity in secret, without revealing the reason for its final judgement.3 Recognizing the fallibility of witness memories, then, is especially important to… [cont.]

Why is the Interview the fundamental form of gathering information?
Q. Can anyone help? 1. Why is the Interview the fundamental form of gathering information? 2. As a student journalist, how can you get your adult interview subjects to take you seriously? 3. How might interview results be manipulated to misrepresent the subject's point of view? 4. Why is it important to prepare thoroughly for an interview? 5. What kinds of questions should you ask during an interview?

A. 1. For a number of reasons, the interview can be especially revealing. Your subject speaks on behalf of the ongoing investigation, management of a corporation or event made public by its newsworthiness or promotion, just to name a few. This means the interviewee bears responsibility. Unfortunately that does not mean there will be guaranteed objectivity or honesty. The interviewer is in position to watch facial contortions and connect them with issue-sensitivity, possibly leading to more penetrating questions. You will be in the catbird seat. Additionally, you're (presumably) the only one conducting said interview and therefore you have a measure of control over the flow of the meeting. How long after the first interview does walmart call you for a second interview?
Q. I had an interview with Walmart about 4 weeks ago for a part-time cashier and they have not contacted me yet. At this interview all I had to do was sign some papers with the manager who said that usually there is more than one interview done. The interview went great and I only had to answer a few questions like the hours that I am available to work. If you are a previous or current employee of Walmart please tell me how many interviews you had and how long it took to get the second one. I heard that it might take a while but I didn't think it would be this long. Should I keep calling Walmart to ask them?**I really really want this job.

A. In a small, small company, usually one interview is sufficient. In a medium size and large company/corporation, usually 2 interviews, sometimes, three. The first interview is to introduce to the company, judge your appearance, your willingness to work/learn, and your general knowledge, and your ability to communicate. Everything else in that interview is just 'fluff'. If the want you to come back for the 2nd interview, it means that they're interested in you. The 2nd interview is designed to Judge your knowledge of the company & it's service/products, and your understanding working in a corporate environment. If you're asked to come back for a 3rd & final interview, it means that they're really, really interested in you. The 3rd… [cont.]

How long after phone screen interview would the company arrange face to face interview?
Q. I had a telephone screening interview a week ago, last Thursday. If you ever had a phone screening interview, how long after would the company get back to you to arrange a face to face interview?
Asked by Jen - Thu Dec 17 13:09:45 2009 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments
A. That would depend on how soon the company needs to have the position filled. It could be a day or two or months. If there is an immediate opening that needs to be filled you will hear from them sooner.

What to expect from a second interview over the phone?
Q. My first interview was in person, now I am having a second interview from another person over the phone. What do you think? I have never had a second interview, or one over the phone. Do second interviews, especially one over the phone halfway guarantee you might get a job offer?
Asked by Ginger D - Thu Jun 21 22:55:53 2007 - - 3 Answers - 0 Comments
A. It likely means that you are in the running but another person, maybe a higher up manager, wants to check you out before an offer is made. It likely won't be as long as the inperson interview. You are fortunate in that you can have some materials with you that they won't be able to see. You should go through the things that you think they will want you to know or be able to do and have examples of when you have done those things ready. You haven't said what type of job it is.

What type of job interview questions will I be asked when interviewing for a county position?
Q. I am wondering how this interview may differ from a classic interview with other companies since it is for the County.
Asked by Rachaelatwork - Mon May 21 12:26:15 2007 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments
A. My experience is that they are going to read from a list and possibly write down your answers. You also may have more than one person interviewing you at a time (my first "board" interview was for a City position.) The questions were mostly what you would expect - nothing especially strange. (You might check out the big job boards, they have good sample questions for you to practice.) Best of luck!

A. You always dress professional for ANY kind of interview. Heck, I interviewed for a Storage Unit and I had a shirt and tie on. You can never over-dress for an interview!! But you sure as heck can under-dress, and it will reflect negatively upon you. Make a good first impression, and good luck!!

What should a woman wear to an interview at a hardware store?
Q. Interview site after interview site suggests wearing a suit to an interview. I can't help thinking these are only really helpful to people having a professional job-type interview. I'm interviewing part-time to work in a hardware store. Certainly, I'm aware I shouldn't look like a slob, and I'm thinking not too girly either. Since it's true, I want to subliminally say "Yes, I'm a female and put together, but I really do like tools and hardware stores and you should hire me to work here." Any helpful tips?

A. Yes, I do. It's hard to know when you're crossing the line when dealing with ethics though if you wanted to ask personal questions. Questions: How do you know when you're crossing the line in ethics? Or more specific: The rules say that you must inform someone when a client tells you of harm to themself or another person. What authority do you tell first? (I've wondered that myself. Is it the police or your boss or a specific other place?) How do you avoid the dual relationship? (I think that's what it's called. When the client is also your friend or even girl/boyfriend. That is NOT supposed to happen.) There are many questions on that level. Good luck!

What questions to expect in a interview for a Recruiter position?
Q. I will be interviewed for a Recruiter position. I will be interviewed by a 4 to 8 panel of recruiters. Can someone tell what type of questions to expect. I have already went for the first interview and met with one recruiter and would like to call me back and meet the other consultants to see if I am a perfect fit.

A. If you want to be a recuriter, you need to know the industry you are working in. In a high tech company such as Intel, if you don't know basics about semiconductor, you will not get the job. You have to know what questions to ask as a recruiter for the industry you are working in. If you don't know, spend time on Internet and get to know that industry. Talk to people who are working in that industry. There are too many air heads in this industry and have no idea what the employer does and is looking for. I am a senior manager who relies on HR Dept recuriter to do the homework for the interview and get the right candidate, most of the time, they are clueless. I hope you are better than others.

How is an interview different if you are just being interviewed for a promotion/ higher position?

A. Hello- If your company is large and you are interviewing with another department head, your interview will be the same as if you were an outside candidate. Although you could have a significant leg up on outside candidates because of your 2 year tenure and your boss's endorsement of you to the other manager. If you are interviewing with your current boss or a manager you know very well, it's a little different story. Some companies have a policy that they want to always hire the best candidate, regardless if they are inside or outside the company. So, even though you may be perfect for the job, your company will advertise and interview outside candidates as well. Again, you have an advantage if you've done excellent work. On the other… [cont.]

A. Hello- If your company is large and you are interviewing with another department head, your interview will be the same as if you were an outside candidate. What should I expect at an interview for a Flight Attendant position?
Q. I have an interview on Tuesday, April 20th at Trans States Airlines in Bridgeton, MO. What are some things I should expect at this interview? What are some tips for a successful interview? Also, does anyone know the colors that TSA FAs wear in-flight?

A. First and foremost: What do you know about Trans States Airlines? For that, check out You need to know what airlines they operate for. Also, know what types of planes they operate for United and US Airways because that's kinda important. I would be prepared for questions that are customer service story intensive. Since you are the face of that airline for the duration of the flight, your service will have to be great. They will also ask you people skills questions. Next they will judge you on appearance, so you better be dressed super sharp! Smile for everything! Even if the interview room catches on fire, if the interviewer calls you fat..smile!! Just start thinking about stories from all of your previous jobs and start making them… [cont.]

How is the group interview at Bank Of America for a teller position?
Q. I have a group interview in a few days at Bank of America after I applied for the teller position. Does anyone know what these are like, what to expect, or any good suggestions before going to the interview? Thanks!

A. I actually just went through a Bank of America group interview! There are a few things.. you turn in all the necessary paperwork that the recruiter sent you in the email invitation and make necessary corrections. Then, during the interview: of course, you do your introductions and listen to everyone else's response. Hint: Make sure you always pay attention even if it's not your turn! There might also be a portion where you have to do a sales pitch-- the recruiter will give each of you an item and you have to sell it to the whole group in 1 min. Be creative! At the end, he/she will ask the usual interview questions. Stay positive, smile, and good luck with your interview!
